Mad River Watershed Groundwater Assessment Project

VRWA has joined forces with the
Friends of the Mad River, the
Vermont Geological Survey, and the
Vermont Department of Health in a project that will gather information about the state of groundwater in the Mad River Valley. The Groundwater Assessment Project will provide critical data that will allow the watershed's five towns to protect their drinking water resources and plan a sustainable, vibrant future for the valley.
As part of this project, Liz Royer will complete a source protection plan for the entire watershed (map left), which includes the towns of Duxbury, Fayston, Moretown, Waitsfield and Warren.
The Friends of the Mad River is also looking for homeowners in the watershed who would like to participate by having their private wells tested. Please email
Liz Royer for more information.
As part of the project, we have been giving public presentations on groundwater contamination at the Mad River Valley Farmers Market (photo above).
